Materials for Learning
As part of our expansion efforts, we hope to be able to support the children of our teenage graduates to school to get a solid education and foundation for future success. Their mothers are working hard to lead by example. To achieve this goal, we are driving fundraising efforts for the required materials and funds for learning. These include, but are not limited to,
School fees
Shoes
Uniforms
Backpacks
Books
Pens/Pencils
So far, we have obtained funding for one child to attend school in 2024 through a generous sponsor who, during a visit to our vocational school, noticed the girl was not enrolled in classes. With the help of additional sponsors, we can get all the children into school.
Our vocational school is always in need of materials for continued learning. For the tailoring courses, this includes sewing machines, desks, cloth, thread, and bobbins. For culinary areas, this includes stoves, cooking utensils, plates, pans, and ingredients.
Do you know?
58% or Kenyans have access to the internet, but only 29% of the population has a basic level of digital literacy.
There is a definitely digital gender divide in Kenya where women hold less than 30% of digital technology positions.
At Dayspring, we are committed to ensuring our teenage mothers become computer and digitally literate. Our founder, Elizabeth Oroko, experienced the challenges of navigating a technology-driven world firsthand when she moved to the United States. To equip our students for the rapidly evolving digital landscape, we aim to introduce Digital Navigation classes to our Vocational School. To achieve this, we need more training space, as well as funding for computers and teachers.
